yountville for families

Enjoying the cabana

With one of the highest per capita Michelin starred restaurants in the nation, it is easy to see how Yountville can seem like a destination out of reach for families.

As parents we’re more likely to be doing laundry than dining at French Laundry.

But don’t let all those fancy stars get in the way of having a spectacular time with your family in Yountville. What’s great is Yountville is a sleepy little town past the hustle and bustle with lots to do in walking distance. With a population just over 3,000, Yountville looks like a charming village right out of a storybook and your children will love it.

Throughout the summer, the City of Yountville hosts free movie nights at their newly renovated park. The fun starts at 6:30 pm with music and rotating food trucks that serve until the sun goes down. Then, families can get cozy and watch the free movie—make sure to bring your own snacks! The first movie night this summer is June 23 and they will be showing The Secret Life of Pets.

The town has a few upscale hotels that will be best suited for a romantic getaway than a family weekend to wine county. Luckily, just across from the park, where the free movie nights are taking place, you’ll find the quaint Napa Valley Lodge. The hotel is on the northern tip of Yountville and surrounded by vineyards. My favorite amenity about the property is the free champagne brunch that is served daily. The staff is kind and generous and poolside brunching is highly recommended.

Poolside Mama Mimosas!

Take advantage of the free cruisers that you can ride around the town, or if you’re more into to sunbathing than bike riding, enjoy an afternoon relaxing in the hot tub and lounging in their super cozy cabanas. They do offer spa treatments, but my we were too busy playing in the pool.

My daughter and I stayed in a Garden View room with a fireplace that lead out to the vineyards. The average rate is $325 per night. They do have larger suites that have sitting rooms and Jacuzzi bathtubs, but this time we weren’t that fancy! If you have little ones, they’ll be more than happy to set up an additional bed in your room. Each day they have wine tasting in the lobby and bake fresh chocolate chip cookies for the guests.
